Will the new google preview feature change the way you design your website and sales funnels?

IF, and its possible this is only being tested, if they keep this feature what effect do you think it will have on your site? Will you change your design?

Hi David,
This is an interesting feature, especially because these previews cover up Google’s cash cow – the Adwords ads.
And now that you can click your way down the page, once you preview the top site, each successive site pops up. You can end up going down the page and not seeing the ads.
Really does make you wonder what they’re planning here. Will people be more likely to go page 2? And if yes, so what if the ads there are covered as well?

Wow!!! didnt notice that! good thing its PPC on those ads, but it will definetly affect PPC clickthroughs. Wouldn’t be surprised if they modify because of this.
Good question, David. My sense is that new Google features like Preview, Instant Search, etc will only be used by perhaps 10 percent of users in most niche domains. Of course if a business is selling to techie-types and power users, then their search methods would use the latest search features.
On a related note, on my Internet Explorer 9 when I enter a search term in the address bar, IE often jumps directly to the #1 search item without even going to the Google search page result at all.
I’m guessing we will continue to see significant changes in search technologies and end-user methods. And while Google may not yet be a wounded bear, we can rest assured that when Facebook surpassed them in May 2010 as the #1 site for website traffic, Google will not be resting on their legacy.
Bottom line – I agree with you that depending on our target audience, search engine features, as well as browser enhancements, we will need to keep abreast of changes continue to affect our website traffic.
Warm Regards, Michael
Thanks for pointing this out David
In playing with it the only difference between this and normal is that it opens in a different size window off to the side.
It does not save me any more mouse clicks, the only question becomes do I want to see the window that opens in full screen. I will not be using this.
What is cool that I did not see on your video is once I tried it and clicked the eye glass, it allowed me to mouse over existing links and see the preview without clicking the eye glass the eyeglass just seems to activate the mouse over feature.
This will change the way I search and design
